Send one request when you are ready. Public routes need no key; protected routes consume a decision credit when authenticated. Without a key, supported paid routes return an x402 challenge rather than free data.

Keys are only ever sent as a header. A key placed in the query string is rejected with HTTP 401. No key? Claim a free one.
